UB loads activities at its Diamond Jubilee

JUNE 26 saw a grand launching of the University of Bohol Diamond Jubilee Celebration at the UB quadrangle, complete with the frills and fanfare. The activity had the entire UB family including the alumni witnessing the affair. A motorcade that herded the flow of activities tugging the jubilee celebration activities came as the biggest formal out-of campus activity that day. As always, the bulk of the celebration started with a prayer service at the quadrangle. At the program proper, UB Alumni president Atty. Jose V. Torralba delivered the rationale and UB president Atty. David B. Tirol rendered a short talk.

Moreover, the program was highlighted by the logo ceremony done by invited city officials, and youth, media, NGO, business, cultural, and religious representatives and the commitment ceremony participated by selected UB family members led by Trustee Jes B. Tirol who represented the administration. Aside from those, the launching of the jubilee song, unveiling of the tarpaulin signage and presentation of the UB Diamond Monument along with a fireworks display and exhibits of the show band composed of musically inclined UB employees also took place. The Day High School Department cheerers doing their award winning number during the inter-departmental competition went on show again. The winning entry presentation held audiences spellbound. Several activities comprising the diamond jubilee are set to be staged anytime, especially that Boholanos have also come home for the triennial Tigum Bol-anon sa Tibuok Kalibutan.

Grand homecoming offers Trip back to memory lanes

UNIVERSITY of Bohol affords to their alumnae the often-expensive journey back memory lanes when it holds its grand homecoming on June 27, 2006 at the UB quadrangle. The treat, which will serve as one of the important highlights of the day-long diamond jubilee celebration will start at 6:00 P.M.

The journey back naturally takes a much different route now as alumnae would be in for a campus tour, a reorientation from the usual nooks where lovers then spend private quality moments now transformed into a different place after the school suffered a conflagration in 2000. The fire effectively razed the school's major buildings, and yet gave rise to a group of modern buildings and classrooms cum learning facilities giving the school a new face.

The alumni will be re-oriented with the university through a campus tour. An exhibit runs through also on the same day. Homecoming alumnae would then gather at business meetings afterwards. The school then hosts a fellowship dinner later. At the business meetings transpiring, expected to get a dose of fresh ideas and possibly funds to sustain worthwhile endeavors. On the agenda are the UB Scholarship Project and UB Adopt-a-Street. Moreover, games, testimonies, and other fun-filled activities will surely make the day even more special, organizers assured.
