Man hangs self in Talibon

By: ONAD MUNALEM

TALIBON – FOR still unknown reasons, a loner husband found the end of his life at the end of a rope in Barangay Tanghaligue, July 21. The victim whom his wife identified as 34 year old Edwin Autida, left the house about 3:00 am that day. It could have been like an ordinary pre-planting season day with the victim's wife not seeing any bad omen.

The victim's wife Miriam said her husband left early for the farm to open up irrigation gate valves so he could prepare the lot for the planting season. A text message the victim sent earlier to his parents was the only give-away. The victim apparently composed a message of apology and sent it to his parents early that morning. Feeling concerned about perceived family trouble, the victim's parents texted his wife asking her of any problem their son might have had. Before receiving parents text message, Miriam reportedly sent a message to his husband reminding him to come home to take his breakfast. She did not get any replies from him.

Concerned, about her in-law's message, Miriam went to the farm to check and found her husband hanging lifeless from a gmelina tree at their farm. When local health authorities arrived, they still found the victim suspended from a tree by a nylon rope used to bucket water from a nearby shallow well. Municipal Health Officer Dr. Francisco Ngoboc Jr. police investigator SPO1 Narciso Lagura, and Carlos Buno of MCTC and the Post immediately rushed to the area of incident upon receiving the reports from concerned relatives. Police investigator immediately conducted investigations and noted no signs of foul play. That was before they retrieved the lifeless body. Autida left his wife three young children.
