Mabini benefactors enliven 102nd Foundation Day

By: Sen Guingguing

MABINI - This municipality which was named after the great Filipino hero known as the “Sublime Paralytic”, Apolinario Mabini, is beating to the sights and sounds of a festival atmosphere as it marks today its 102nd Foundation Day. Three prominent personalities whose hearts are in the right places when it comes to extending assistance to this once obscure town, are expected to enliven the affair today with their presence.

Gov. Erico Aumentado, Cong. Eladio “Boy” Jala and businessman Angelo Balili are privileged to be the guests of honor during the Foundation Day. The three were singled out to lead the list of who's who are coming to town to attend today's festivities of Mabini's foundation milestone.. Gov. Aumentado led the list of guests because of his great contributions to the municipality.. To name a few, the governor, was responsible for having secured the construction of least three bridges under the President's Bridge Program. The three bridges are located in barangays Abad Santos, San Isidro and Tangkigan. In the language of Mayor Stephen Rances, the three bridges link Maini's barangays to various market centers in and outside the municipality thus giving farmers and fisherfolk unhampered access in bringing their products to target consumers and end users. All the three bridges cost the national government some P26 million. Branded as Tulay ng Pangulo, these three bridges were started and completed during the incumbency of Gov. Aumentado.

The provincial governor is also responsible for the release of some P15 million to have the Candijay-Mabini Road fully concreted. With a distance of about four kilometers, only a kilometer remains unpaved. The whole stretch of provincial road from the Candijay junction which has a distance of six kilometers is programmed to be cemented during the incumbency of Mayor Rances. In addition to all these infra projects, the governor also donated a total of 42 jet matic pumps for the town's waterworks program. Mabini also occupies a soft sport in the heart of Cong. Jala. One tangible accomplishment of the congressman and therefore visible to his Mabini constituents was the 2 million cementing project infront of the Mabini Public Market. Another P 2 million of the congressman's pork barrel was allocated for the purchase of water pipes for the town's waterworks system.

The congressman also extended financial assistance for the construction of school buildings in barangays San Roque , del Mar Balaga and Paraison. All these projects were just a fraction of the cpngressman's assistance to the municipality after he was elected third district lawmaker since 1998. The generosity of the Loboc businessman is not only confined to the more popular municipalities of the third district. Even if Mabini is considered out of the way town, the generous Balili also touched the lives of scores of Mabini folks thru cultural shows he sponsored. For example, during last May's Mabini fiesta, Balili donated P50,000 for the cultural presentation of the lGU during the town fiesta. One half of the amount was used by the LGU in the purchase of fireworks. Another Mabini affair, the local basketball league was a recipient of Balili's benevolence when he donated P25,000.
