God's miracle power happened in my life

By: Teresita Asilo

Psalm 91: 3 “He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases”.

I am Teresita Asilo, a resident of Lindaville Subdivision, Phase I in this city. God's miracle power happened in my life last May 3, 1999. I was diagnosed at the Ramiro Hospital of having cancerous mayuma. I tried to get a second opinion by proceeding to the Cebu Doctor's Hospital where I was confirmed to have cancerous mayuma. At that time my eldest daughter was still working at U.S.T. Hospital so I was made to go to Manila for another diagnosis where another confirmation was pronounced that I was suffering from the same illness. This prompted my children to decide to have me operated on. The operation was in Cebu Doctor's Hospital.

Three days after the operation the nuns invited me to attend the holy mass by walking slowly to the chapel which was situated just behind the hospital. I did as suggested so I was able to attend the holy mass. In the mass, my mind was crowded with different thoughts and questions after the operation knowing that my mayuma was cancerous. Will I gain back my health or will I eventually die like those who suffer the same malady? Only God Knows! Then all of a sudden while I was absorbed with some relevant thoughts of my illness and when the host was tossed high by the priest in the offertory I saw it sparked a light. I was awakened from my reverie seeing the sight of the great awe. I felt the need for consolation because my physical weakness was very apparent. I needed outside strength to support me, I need God's help. To express my need I vent to tears which ultimately gave me the urge to cry. I cried heartily and upon my crying I felt relaxed quickly, feeling the hard muscle around my heart as if giving way to the surge of blood. What a relief! All these things caught to attention of my children and the nuns, so they asked me what I felt but I was not able to answer them quickly. By and by I gradually gained back strength to answer their questions telling them that I saw the host in bright light, to which the nun opined that God caused a miracle to happen.

After eight days from my operation in the hospital I was discharged under recommendation to submit to five times chemo therapy to the Southern Island Hospital after fifteen days when my wound heals. For this purpose we made preparation to go to Cebu for the therapy because my children decided to have me submit to five times chemo therapy according to the note. Then one day my children arrived home to take me along, all of them fully packed and ready with things needed for our stay in Cebu, but Msgr. Gonzaga visited me at home whose erstwhile knowledge about my condition prompted him to offer his fatherly advice which can easily be considered as coming from the Holy Spirit because his words were prophetic and convincing by using simile in comparing my state to two of our neighbors by saying: “Have you considered (names withheld), well, they both were at advantage of chemo therapy, but where are they now, they have long time passed away from our world. You better decide to refuse and refrain from submitting to chemo”. So in spite of the information advanced by no less a Cebu Doctor Hospital that if I do not undergo chemo therapy, my life will be cut short to six month or so. Glory to God, after a seven years period I am still alive. I realize how good He is to me. Praise the Lord! For all the blessings in my life I willingly return to Him my extended life to serve Him by going with the Healing Ministry in the Children of Light Charismatic Community. Serving God this way is a pleasure. It is a means of sowing the seed of love to sickly people who need consolation, encouragement and comfort in their suffering. May God Bless Us!
