Dad drags Panglao mayor in rape case

A Panglao councilor has dragged the name of Mayor Doloriech Dumaluan to a cover-up of a three-year old rape case. In an affidavit furnished the Post, Kagawad Cereno Hormachuelos, with the help of counsels lawyers Venzenzo Arcamo and Dennis Hora, sought the reopening of the celebrated rape case before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office. Hormachuelos together with the two lawyers are anchors of a radio program “Panglao Pagpakabana” over Station DYTR. Full story

“ I apologize”

Is it possible for a combative and confrontational personality like lawyer Victor de Serna to eat his own harsh words and then apologize? This exactly what confronts the crusading lawyer that like an old dog trying to learn new tricks he was put in a situation where he was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. His dilemma came after his legions of radio listeners took him to task for using strong language to describe the acts of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and the three Bohol Congressmen—Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes, and Eladio Jala. For mincing no words in calling the three lawmakers as crooks, de La Serna earned the ire of several radio listeners to the point of unleashing their own personal attacks against the former OIC- governor. National confab to highlight 107th Public Library Day

Public librarians from all over the country will brush elbows during the National Conference of Public Librarians at the Bohol Tropics to highlight the 107th anniversary of Public Library Day on March 9. In a memorandum, National Library Director Prudenciana Comiling Cruz called on all regional, congressional, provincial, city, municipal and barangay librarians to attend the conference scheduled on March 8-10, to celebrate the theme, “Enhanced Knowledge and Skills, the Retooled Public Librarian” for this year's Public Library Day. Blinking cause on marine conservation sparks again after World wetland day
LOON-A month after the celebration of the World Wetland Day, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-Bohol) has tried to sustain the blinking campaign on preservation of the marine resources. As led by CENRO Samuel Racho, the heightened information dissemination continue to stretch after public concern was rekindled during the annual celebration of the World Wet Day last February 2. Gawad Kalinga to build more than 100 houses

Gawad Kalinga plans to build more than 100 houses this year in Calape, Ubay and Carmen, according to Joener Comahig of the Couples for Christ. At present, Gawad Kalinga has three housing sites located at Cabawan District in Tagbilaran City , Tabalong in Dauis, and the recently-inaugurated President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo-Gov. Maximize resources, Lim advises peers
oCity Mayor Dan Lim Wednesday said the key to fiscal sustainability to maximize available resources. Lim was invited to speak to a conference on enhancing local fiscal sustainability in the Philippines organized by the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP NCPAG) last Feb. 28. The mayor was invited to share his experience on the UP NCPAG mentoring program between the cities of Tagbilaran and San Fernando , La Union. Full story
