Jaycees, BFP, BTMA leads prevention drive

 

In a move to make the people fire prevention cautious and to instill in them that fire prevention is everyone's concern, the Bohol Sandugo Jaycees and the Bohol tri-Media Inc. launched a fire prevention awareness and consciousness drive, calling on everyone to help promote public consciousness of the various elements on fire safety and prevention. This was the gist of the speech of Damalerio during the opening of the Fire Prevention and Awareness Month and the launching of the fire awareness and consciousness drive held at the Bureau of Fire Department office compound Thursday. “We need to let the people participate in the whole fire prevention business, and that fire prevention is not just the duty of the fire department, but it is everyone's responsibility,” Damalerio emphasized.

Damalerio who attended also meeting of Liga Ng Mga Barangay Tagbilaran who also committed to support the Project w/ Department of Education Dr. Cerina Bolos and Dr. Elpedio Jala, the Jaycees Club will be giving Posters w/ Five Alarm Hotline Nos. to Public and Elem. Schools and all Brgy. Halls in Tagbilaran City. Presidential Decree No. 115-A declares March of every year as Fire Prevention Month. The fire awareness and consciousness drive is collaboratively initiated by the Bohol Sandugo Jaycees and the Bohol Tri-Media Association. “This massive campaign on fire prevention and awareness intends to train the people to cooperate and be vigilant enough in the event of fire so that real emergency situations are managed quickly and properly,” Damalerio added. In line with fire disaster awareness, Fire Brigade volunteers are required in municipalities, cities and provinces as stated in the Presidential Decree No. 1185, otherwise known as Fire Code of the Philippines .

Damalerio, who is also the Secretary of the Bohol Tri Media Inc., also asserted that besides fire fighting, fire education of the public should also be a top priority if only to make the people see the value of disaster consciousness. City Council Chairman on Protective Services George Olario, Provincial Fire Marshal Noni Acero and Lito Responte also delivered their messages during the affair. According to Damalerio, a free movie pass promo will also be aired over local radio stations in cooperation with BQ Cineleisure Center. Radio anchors will ask questions pertaining to “Project: Fire Alarm Hotline” and participants who can answer the question correctly will get a free movie pass to any of the movies showing at the BQ Cinemas. The promo will run for one week starting tomorrow.
