This is one story buoyed up by hometown decision. If our information is buttressed by hard facts, then we can say without fear of contradiction that the spectacle of an Uy vs Uy in Baclayon is getting clearer everyday. Although some sectors may be working in the backdoor to abort a confrontation of that sort, many others are titillated at the prospect that at last the Baclayon electorate will be treated once again to a thrilling electoral combat. Not since the torrid rivalry of the Liberal and Nacionalista parties during the heydays of Jesus Pacana and Cristuto Manding, Baclayon had since been a laidback territory of one sided political exercises.

Not anymore.

With two powerful clans at each others throats, the coming elections in Baclayon is never the same again. This combustible circumstance is fueled with the split in the dominant Uy family what with an in-law like Kagawad Marilyn Uy, wife of Board Member Felix Uy now reported as having slept with the enemy. The l' affair Marilyn Uy became so pronounced and telling last week when she started spilling the beans against her relatives. Uy is the sister in law of Mayor Benecio Uy, brother of the board member. In an earlier interview over this Bglante's Cuentas Claras, Mayor Uy confirmed a crack in the family relation between him and his sister in law.

The mayor is fielding his wife, Elena, to take his place as the next mayor of Baclayon. For his part, Board Member Uy in an interview in the same radio program about his wife's political plans, his answers “were neither here nor there”. Whatever, the elder Uy's categorical reaction was of no moment because what is important is that his wife, judging from her body language, indicated that she has already thrown his lot to the Baclayon opposition. The occasion where Marilyn said a mouthful against her relatives by affinity was an opposition meeting called in the residence of lawyer Alvin Uy. One interesting piece of news that filtered during the meeting was that Alvin Uy finally acceded to the prodding of his kin to run as mayor with Marilyn Uy as his running mate.

Our hunch here is that if nothing will be done to stop Marilyn in her tracks (consorting with the Baclayon opposition), then there's no way that an Uy vs Uy confrontation is not a reality. We believe that as the elections draws near, the verbal attacks coming from the camp of Marilyn will step up and we don't think the other Uy's group will take them sitting down. As of last report, we have it from a good authority that the group of Mayor Uy remained mum to the tirades unleashed by their sister-in-law, Marilyn. For the moment, the bombs detonated by Marilyn were still confined within the four walls of the house of his running mate. But it will not remain that way for long. What will happen if these diatribes will be made in open public and within hearing distance of her relatives? Don't you think it will not widen the gap all the more between the Uy siblings leading to a full blown political war?
