Cameron's act of blasphemy

THE ALLEGED DOCUMENTARY of Titanic director James Cameron on the burial place of the Lord Jesus Christ is pure and simple blasphemy. It wants to portray Jesus as the husband of Mary rather then the wife of Joseph, and the alleged father of several children. The shame and scandal that Cameron wants us Christians to believe is obviously aimed at destroying the Christian faith while making sure that his film is a blockbuster to us Christians and pagans alike. If Cameron did ever tried to make such a portrayal of Mohammed in this rather bad light, the prophet's Muslim followers would have would have initiated a jihad against him a long time ago. But being Christians, what we can do at this time is to merely consign Cameron's film to the nearest trash can. Cameron who is obviously an atheist ought to be banned from any Christian country and his picture left to rot in some forgotten shelf or smelly waste basket.

By way of postscript, the recent Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Bohol Chapter elections where we were elected president, showed quite simply that trust and confidence are still the ultimate yardstick for victory in an election among lawyers. Unlike the forthcoming electoral exercise came May 2007, where as usual the abusive use of money and force are still potential weapons for winnability, the IBP polls were marked by gentle persuasion and reason enunciated by the winning lawyers. And yes, credibility and goodness prevailed upon voters who came to the polls undecided. A hopeless optimist, we thought that some people whom we considered friends were our allies only to find out that they were our real nemesis. We are therefore happy to congratulate the following officers who outside of this columnist were elected to the following posts: VP George Cabalit, Secretary Boloy Boiser, Treasurer Celing Viodor, Auditor Greg Austral, PRO Cris Baluma. And the following as directors for 2007 - 2009 term: Licelle Zamora, Abe Damalerio, Doy Magdoza, Dodz Sabijon and Pepe Estrera. They are known supporters of the 7 point agenda espoused by us during the brief campaign.

By the way, we were able to see the TV coverage of the so-called Moment of Truth featuring Boom boom Bautista et al in Cebu City , very recently. While, we saw the devastating fist of "Boom boom" as he demolished his Mexican opponent, we also saw and heard the boos directed at Manny Pacquiao, whose popularity as a boxer is incomparable among Filipinos. The unexpected boos of the crowd appear to be directed against his known political ambitions. With the crowd's reaction, we cannot help but wonder if the politicians he is endorsing will suffer the same fate come May, this year. Gospel quote: "In the shadow of your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by." - Psalm 57:1
