New priest for Jagna 375th day

JAGNA - Jagnaanon Catholic devotees have considered the upcoming presbyteral ordination of Rev. Marvin Raña Tadena, PSDP on March 10 at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church , as a precious blessing in time for the 375th foundation day anniversary of this town and parish. Rev. Tadena has been anointed by the bishop in the Diocese of Talibon, Most Rev. Christian Vincent Noel, D.D.

Rev. Tadena who will also celebrate his “canta misa” (thanksgiving mass) at 3:00 o'clock on the same day, will turn 31 years old in October this year. He is the youngest child of 10 siblings of Rosario “Sayong” Tadena and Amelia Raña-Tadena of barangay Tejero. After his secondary years at the Colegio de la Medalla Milagrosa (CMM) owned and managed by the Augustinian Recollect Sisters (A.R.), Rev. Tadena decided to respond to God's initial call to the priesthood upon the inspiration and motivation of the said A.R. Sisters, the sister congregation of the Augustinian Recollect Fathers (Recoletos). For two years, he had taken the formation years of aspirancy and postulancy through the Recoletos' way of life in Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary in Baguio City but circumstances hindered him from finishing a degree in Philosophy.

While seeking for discernment on God's will for him, he enrolled for one year at the Divine Word College (now Holy Name University ), taking up the same course. Rev. Tadena decided, later, to join the Poor Servants of Divine Providence (PSDP), an Italian congregation of religious priests and brothers founded by St. John Calabria . He was able to carry out the rudiments of the Calabrian formation years to include his Theologate from the St. John Vianney Theological Seminary in Cagayan de Oro City in 2006.

Months later, he had his perpetual vow as a religious brother on May 13, 2006 at the San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Taytay, Rizal and was ordained Deacon immediately the following day at the same venue. The parish priest here, Msgr. Orencio Jubac, E.V. has appealed to Jagnaanon devotees to give their spiritual and material support to Rev. Tadena on his most memorable day since the Sacrament of the Holy Order is seldom allowed outside the diocesan seat of the local Bishop. On that blessed day, Jagnaanon priests, fellow religious and diocesan pastors together with the devotees, once again, will reunite in thanksgiving for being part of the glorious 375th foundation day anniversary of this town and the parish of here.
