Jesus Way of Calling Me

By: Bro. Eddie “Boy” Gamas

John 15: 16 “You did not choose me; it was I who chose you and sent you to go and bear much fruit, fruit that will last”.

nnWay back August 12, 2002 , Makati City , a surprising illness struck me. I thought it was simply ordinary sickness that I did not mind at all until the succeeding day, it became severe and I found myself helpless when both my legs cannot stand. I was rushed to the hospital of Makati for emergency treatment but it complicates and trembled me the painful effects of medicine. The doctor instructed to have me ambulance to San Lazaro Hospital in Manila along with my oxygen gasping my breath. It was a struggle between life and death, fearing how to be saved that very moment until I remember one song of praise “ Jesus Banal na Pangalan” which I sung repeatedly while inside the ambulance and into the bed laying at the ICU in the said hospital. All I recall at that time were rushing doctors, nurses, equipments hooked up, and painful shots of needles, connecting hoses is an agonizing pain to my organs. Like a nightmare experience, the very last name I beg for mercy is Jesus. I cried and cried like a baby, asking for help, praying, praising, and begging to save me since my children were too young to be left.

I was diagnosed to have inflicted with a killer rat virus called “Liptosperosis”, a deadly disease that would have put me to death if my arrival delayed by 30 seconds. One patient beside me died of same illness and I feared for my life as the spirit of death kept calling me. I focus God's promise of salvation by keeping on praying, praising and begging help.

Staying inside the ICU was more horrifying experienced. Dreams and visions appeared. I traveled in darkness into the galaxies, reckoning my childhood up to the present existence. I have seen buildings collapsed, people died by flood waters rushing towards the mouth of a dragon. Another vision, I was seeing myself swimming in mud water felt numb going to be sink. Someone suddenly held my hand and I saw Jesus shining in a yellow robe. While I kept swimming along with Jesus I have seen human beings young and old eaten and swallowed by different ugly creatures. They were trying to reach me but cannot do so because Jesus was beside me all along the way until we reached the other side Jesus said, “Son, you are now saved”. Then I remember I was already taken to recovery room declared safe.

Brothers, sisters and all those who are reading this column, I can't explain now what those visions meant. All I know is that Jesus saved me from the world of the dead. All I can say is that someone out there is very powerful who can save us from the dead if we only believe in HIM. Jesus Christ the son of God, savior of mankind, mighty, protector, greatest physician. He came into the sinful world not to punish but to save. Because of God's great love to the world, Jesus HIS son died so we may live. He came to give us fullness of life, happy and abundance.

Yes, I am a sinful man in a sinful city of Metro Manila yet surprisingly and unworthily, God chooses me to go and bear fruit that endure by becoming a living witness of God's mighty power, love and mercy, so others may hear also this “GOOD NEWS OF SALVATION” and experience to be chosen and bear fruit that endures among others unto the ends of the earth.

Brother, sisters and readers, having experience this awesome power of God, I became his humble servant as preacher in Charismatic Community in Bohol . I may not be perfect in God's sight for this massive job but HIS love and mercy remain to forgive me every stumbling moment of my life and so are you. HE is a forgiving God not to be afraid. He will help, rescue and save you coz He said in Matt. 11:28 , “Come to me all of you who are tired and I will give you rest” and in Rev 22:17 “Come whoever is thirsty. Drink this freely given water that will give you life”.

Down on my bended knees I worship and praise the Lord, Halleluiah, and Amen.

God Bless Us All!
