Yes, this ex-guv is running in the 3rd district

The past weeks saw the noise of the 2007 elections hitting crescendo levels. The most pronounced of all these political posturings was felt in the third district where no incumbent is seeking reelection. We do not hazard as yet any guess as to how many hopefuls are gearing for action in the third congressional derby. But suffice it to say that one contender that rings a bell is that of former governor Rene Relampagos. Is it because of his war chest? Or is it because he is rumored to be backed up by the political firepower of the Lim dynasty in Valencia ? Whatever, the former governor is a virtual shoo-in if a top three list is to be drawn among congressional probables.

There is no question that the former provincial executive is far from being a spent force. If the results of the last two elections were any indicator, Rene's past showing was far from dismal even if he were pitted against a formidable opponent in Gov. Erico Aumentado. By the way, how sure are we that Rene boy is trying his luck in the third district? We have it from a good authority that Relampagos is already a registered voter in the third district. The question is what the hell is he doing as a registered voter in the third district if he were not casting a moist eye in the district which will be left without a re-electionist lawmaker come 2007?

For those who are still suspecting that the ex-governor registered in Loay because his wife is from there, you better forget it. Relampagos registered in Estaca, Pilar after a thorough consultation with barangay captains of this interior town. Why Pilar? It was gathered that the late Aning Relampagos, Rene,s father, was said to have owned tracts of land in Pilar. So there, Rene Relampagos is gunning for the third district congressional plum and you can bet on him if he were not a formidable frontrunner.
