KATIGBAWAN FESTIVAL 2006 |
By: Dianna Jean Cruz (Discover Philippines ) |
“Green as our official color signifies hope in our town, with this, we the Catigbianons have always looked forward to working hard with unity and cooperation as our key to progress and development, Katigbawan Festival is a full showcase of our love for Catigbian.” Capt Roberto L. Salinas, PN (Ret) |
CATIGBIAN, BOHOL – I am a witness to the 2nd Katigbawan Festival and 57th Foundation Day Celebration last June 14 to 17, 2006 . This affair entitled me to a total package of immersion with its revealing beauty as a municipality. A four-day celebration exhibited the essence of unity and cooperation through the successful activities facilitated by the different committees and of course participated by graceful Catigbianons. This festival has not only shown the comfort of entertainment but mostly demonstrated the passion of the leaders to provide their people an experience that they can be directly involved. Katigbawan Festival started last year and now on its second year has slowly made Catigbian a place where aspects of society like health, culture, sports, entertainment, public and social services are all honored. It is very impressive how active the communities in the 22 Barangays have turned in their labor of love to let the festivities be more memorable not only for the Catigbianons but at the same time for visitors. Thus the support of the private sector such as the donors and sponsors has truly contributed to give in rewards for the participants during the entire festivity. This sense of sharing brings motivation to the Catigbianons that when there is unity and participation, greener pasture awaits them. Selfless leadership makes Catigbian's Katigbawan Festival what it has become today. The leaders have given their people wings to fly and discover their abilities to reveal their significance in the municipality. The people fly high doing their roles to support their leaders and communities. These all started with an inch of hope. It worked! During the festival, Catigbian received P20, 000.00 each as a foundation gift and donation from Governor Erico Aumentado and First District Congressman Edgar Chatto. This was announced in the Blessing and Turnover Ceremony of the Government Projects on the celebration of Katigbawan Festival and 57th Foundation Day of the municipality. With this, the two Bohol leaders have committed more funding to the on going projects of Catigbian. Governor Aumentado also donates P200T for the completion of the One Town One Product (OTOP) Display Center intended to showcase the bamboo products and furniture in the town. Congressman Chatto on the other hand is allocating P500T for the People's Lounge and another P400T as additional financial assistance for the livestock market construction. Chatto also donated various educational books for the newly blessed Day Care Centers in Barangay Haguilanan and Barangay Rizal. These books for a cause are intended to educate children in the communities. Mayor Roberto Salinas together with Vice Mayor Fortunato Concon and their SB Members are more than happy to accept these gifts. According to the leaders this united funding is surely a big help to Catigbian's development as a progressive town. |
