Garcia murder case hearing continues |
EXACTLY two years after the brutal killing of Board Member elect Felix Garcia in front of his wife tomorrow, the case still lumbers like your casual low profile cases. Like a low profile case, but this time, the law which, is supposed to be an equalizer has in a way seemingly favored those who have the means to stall the court proceedings. Recently, Regional Trial Court Branch 52 Presiding Judge Zita Masamayor has granted the motion filed by Garcia's lawyer Handel Lagunay. The Court has set July 10 for both suspects to appear together during the hearing as Lagunay has asked. The two suspects identified as Rex Revelo and Ricardo Mascarinas are set to appear during the continuation of the hearing. During the first hearing of the case, only suspect Rex Revelo appeared as the other suspect failed to come. Mascarinas did not appear during the first trial because he was reportedly awaiting a decision from Department of Justice as his lawyer filed a motion for reinvestigation. During the last hearing, Lagunay filed a motion for postponement an earlier motion he filed seeking both presence of Revelo and Mascariñas during the hearing. This way, Lagunay reasons, the prosecution witnesses can pinpoint him. With this positive identification as an ace on the prosecution, the case may grind faster. Judge Masamayor is scheduling the trial with in this year when both sides will be heard. |
