Drunk-driving nips life of a motorist

JAGNA - DRIVING while intoxicated again showed a gory lesson, too bad the learner could never appreciate that when he died even before he could have known what hit him. Too late indeed for Jusel Jose Tande to know that drinking and driving do not go too well. And while driving home drunk last January 21, he drove into an electric post that swerved his motorcycle out of control sending him right smack into a tree before being catapulted into a deep canal.

Reports from the local police investigating the incident said that the incident happened about 10 pm. Along the Jagna- Sierra Bullones national highway particularly at barangay Lonoy. The same sources bared that the fatality was a native of Boctol, an upper barangay. Police theorized that the victim could have been driving home when he met the grim-reaper. Witness accounts said that they only noticed the lifeless body of the victim down the ditch when they saw a fallen Honda XLR 200 along the road.

Jagna Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Arnold Cagulada immediately went to the site and said that based on the contusions and physical condition of the body of the victim, damage upon initial impact could have been capped with the body's death dealing blow on to a tree. Dr Cagulada ruled that the incident has dealt the victim a hemorrhage triggering his death. Now, the could go as another statistic in the increasing number of deaths and traffic accidents involving the deadly combination of drinking and driving.
