Ubay lass takes Miss STEP-Bohol diadem

By: DODONG COMILING

JOHANA Feliz del Mar Pilayre of Ubay emerged as Miss STEP and took on the Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines 2006 diadem for Bohol division, a contest highlighting the STEP conference in Talibon, Oct. 2-5. Pilayre's long trek to gain the crown journey started with the screening held in Dagohoy, Bohol last Sept. 25 for Educational Service Area 5 levels.

In Dagohoy, 15 school participants from several towns went throughout ESA-5 areas competed. Pilayre made it to the top three, along with Ubay's Mark Joseph Valleser, who was also at the top-three for Mr. STEP. Pilayre and Valleser come from same school in Ubay and were sent to Talibon, for the Bohol Division contest. During the contest, the participants were judged for their Filipiniana outfits at the formal wear segment. The attire, all elegant were designed by local designers in town.

In that same contest, Pilayre made it to the top and won the most prestigious title of being the Miss STEP 2006. Hannah, as she is fondly called, is 15 years old fourth-year student of Ubay National Science High School (UNSHS), the only Science High School in Bohol outside Tagbilaran City . Hanna is the only daughter of Engr. Saturnino “Ondoy” Pilayre and Sylvia del Mar Pilayre. Hannah also has a brother: Maurice Felippe, now studying in Cebu .

The young girl is the Supreme Student Government Governor of UNSHS and the president of the Supreme Student Government for the Division of Bohol. As a young girl, Hannah is fond of listening to music, playing guitar, reading magazines and pocket books. However, she always spends her time indulging in school activities; be it social, civic and religious activities while keeping active roles in her school organizations. But according to Hannah's mother, she only wore the most simple and very old-fashioned Maria Clara, her mother's innocent purchase.

Talibon organizers prepared the witty questions, prepared the best accommodations in what contends to be the best program so far. The contest was sponsored by LGU-Talibon, Department of Education, San Jose National High School and Talibon supporters. With her victory, Hannah qualifies for the regional contest to be held in Siquijor.
