By: Dodong E. Arangoso

EXPECT a sharing overload of the country's recent economic miracles from former Land Bank President and now Finance Secretary Margarito Teves when Maribojoc celebrates its 146 years of Foundation Day on October 15, 2006. Aside from Sec. Teves himself joining the celebrations, Manila mayor Lito Atienza and Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines , League of Provinces President and Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado and House bigwig Edgar Chatto would also part of the political superstars in the memorable event.

Their presence would undeniably be one big lode input on the country's economic status, a sure hit during a press conference where Sec. Teves faces the local media. Maribojoc, formerly, “Dunggunan” is populated by 18,000 Maribojocanons presently residing in this coastal municipality. This year, Maribojoc adopts “Kakugi ug kahi-usahan Maoy Dalan sa Kalambuan.” With the theme, activities are geared towards “ Unity and Progress” of the town and its people.

The celebration starts at 4:00 o'clock dawn with a “Diana” by the Maribojoc band. At 8:00 o'clock in the morning, the Maribojoc officials, employees, Barangay officials and the people of the town will troop to the parish church for a holy mass to implore a divine assistance and as a venue for thanksgiving.

The celebration reels off with a grand parade at 10:00 in the morning to be participated by Municipal Officials, employees, barangay officials, public school teachers, students of Busao High School, Pagnitoan High School, St. Vincent Institute, NGO's PO's and the public around the main streets of the town. A program will be held at the Maribojoc Cultural and Sports Center ensues after the parade. During the affair, the blessing of the stage and main entrance gate of the Maribojoc Cultural and Sports Center will take place to be officiated by Fr. Efren Dolauta, Maribojoc Parish Priest. In the afternoon, at 1:30 a showcase of foreign dances, banikanhong sayaw and other cultural presentations will be presented by different agencies and DepEd.
