City VM Montes gains semis at CSC-7 employees award |
AT the zenith of public service, Tagbilaran City Vice Mayor Nuevas Tirol-Montes is now a public official par excellence as she capped the region semi-finalist to the 2006 nationwide Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees. The award, otherwise known as the Pag-asa Award of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is one of the most highly coveted awards in public service. The Pag-asa Award is a national recognition given to exemplary civil servants who have given government service “pride and glory” by continuously showing “excellence via innovations and inventions.” Furthermore, the awards also go for those who have valiantly carried out the duties despite odds and of keeping “integrity in the midst of temptations.” In a letter sent to her office, CSC Director David E. Cabanag, Jr., Director broke the good news to the city and to her especially. The Lady Vice Mayor's nomination brief, submitted to CSC's Awards Committee early this year, enumerates an array of her numerous outstanding achievements, major awards and citations received, researches conducted and affiliations with well-known organizations as an educator and administrator, a reproductive health advocate, public servant, legislator and leader. As a semi-finalist, Vice Mayor Montes received the Certificate of Appreciation from the 2006 CSC Honor Awards Program Committee during a “simple but fitting” recognition rites last Friday, September 29 in Cebu City. |
