Lacson to grace City Youth Convention |
NO less than Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson will be one of the guest speakers in the City Youth Convention (CYC) slated September 30 to October 1, at the Holy Name University gym. The former PNP Chief confirmed his attendance early this week to talk on “Political Will in Public Service” before a number of youth participants coming from secondary and tertiary schools in the city of Tagbilaran. Equally competent speakers will be joining him in equipping the youth with knowledge and skills to become more productive and effective citizens such as; City Mayor Dan Neri Lim (topic-Wanted: Genuine Public Service), Bohol Tri-Media Association President Peter Dejaresco (The Bohol Chronicle: Its Humble Beginnings). Also there are City Vice-Mayor Nuevas Tirol-Montes (Women's Pivotal Role in a “Patriarchal” Society), Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Norris Oculam (Achieving in the Business of Life), House Committee on Tourism Chairman Edgar Chatto (Bohol: Premier Tourist Destination, Youth's Role in its Preservation) and 1ST Boholano Bar Topnotcher Atty. Victor dela Serna (Translating Visions into Realization: Roadmap to Success.) The CYC The City Youth Convention, a knowledge and skills-based values-oriented conference, centers on instituting four fundamental values; MakaDiyos, MakaKalikasan, MakaTao, MakaBayan to the participants. It serves as an avenue for youth to democratically express their views on issues and concern affecting them and provide a concrete action plan to address such. Further, it aims to encourage a vibrant and participate studentry for community development and nation-building. Participants to this conference are members and officers of student organizations from high schools; UB, HNU, Bohol Wisdom, Holy Spirit, Grace Christian, Manga, Mansasa, Science High, BIT, DCPNHS, Cogon Night; and colleges; HNU, UB, BIT, PMI, STI, CVSCAFT, Cristal-e & Informatics. They are also expected to formulate an action plan which is to be assessed based on its doability by Alturas PRD Head Loreto Palapos and SK Prov'l Federation President Frances Bobbith Cajes-Auza. Spearheading the preparation for this grand activity is the Campus Student Organizations (CSO) of Holy Name University thru Joan Llanos, CSO Adviser, Eduardo Padua Jr., CSO President and David Maulas, Project Chairperson with the help of the HNU Administration |
