Fund pooling works for Carmen water projects |
By: REY ANTHONY CHIU |
CONVERGENCE doctrine spread by Bohol washed into the interior Chocolate Hills town when barangay officials and residents of La Victoria , Carmen, Bohol pooled resources with the town through Mayor Pedro Budiongan, Jr. in their need for a reliable Barangay Potable Water Development System. Mayor Budiongan personally handled September 7, 2006 Representative Eladio Jala funded pipes, which have been identified by the residents as the barangay's most urgent need. With the identification, La Victoria Barangay Chairman Modesto Pan coordinated with the Municipal Government on the need, which residents believe could be a boost in their fight to rub poverty with the sustainable support of potable water. The project features concerted efforts of LGU Carmen who initially supplied the Polyvinylchloride (PVC) pipes for level I from the town's 20% Economic Development Fund's allotted under the Water Work System improvement. Subsequently, Congressman Eladio Jala gave 1,130 meters of PE pipes. Furthermore, beneficiary Barangay La Victoria also appropriated P40T for the service drops and the motorized water pumps. Finally, La Victoria Small Farmers Association (LAVISFA) an organization supported by the Philippine Australian Community Assistance Program (PACAP) through FCB Foundation pitched in another P40T as project counterpart set for pipe fittings and minor pre-operational expenses. LAVISFA also put in voluntary services for the implementation of the local waterworks system. The project that allows water to gush on tap-stands rely on gravity and motorized water sources collected in a reservoir before it could be distributed. The new water system is estimated to cover six (6) sitios of Barangay La Victoria : Sitio Quarry, Centro 2, Centro 1, Centro 3, Kamputhay and part of Sitio Kaloy-ahan. The project is now on going for the level 11 implementation. |
