Sec. Yap calls workers to get gov't work trainings |
By: Rey Anthony Chiu |
IF you are 18-55 years old, a high school graduate or programming and information technology related courses with an aptitude for programming and analytical skills, you may qualify for training scholarships for the country's most promising industry. The training allows you to fit in as call center agents, medical and legal transcriptors, animators, software developers and in other hiring sectors. With this, Presidential Adviser on Job Creation, Arthur Yap dares Boholanos to avail of the government's full or partial training for work scholarships commonly called as government training vouchers. This as the “Boholano by affinity” cabinet official and concurrent head of the Presidential Management Staff launched Althea Reyes' Tindahan Natin (TN) along Tomas Cloma Avenue (formerly Graham St. ) in Booy District of the city, June 5. Breezing through Bohol with President Arroyo, Sec. Yap during the launch, distributed 55 certificates to TN outlet operators from 9 Bohol towns. With Yap were Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director Teodulo Romo Jr., National Food Authority (NFA) Regional Director Flo Pascual and Mayors Ceasar Tomas Lopez (Loon) and Marianita Garcia (Bien Unido). The country has about 180 TN outlets and the government plans to expand this as the operators commend the project, which helps the poor and contributed to the government livelihood and food security program. The TN operator while serving 250 families below poverty threshold earns while getting skills in business management trainings, said the Department of Social Welfare and Development Evaluation Officer Evelyn Besaville, in an interview. Operators from 9 towns here were picked and their stores stocked with good-quality yet affordable rice and noodles to poor families, said National Food Authority officials. Pressing for more jobs to allow poor families buying power, Sec. Yap then asked local workers to get government work training scholarships. This provides workers skills and competencies through per-need trainings to match skills for immediate employment. It also motivates goad private education and training institutions to offer relevant training programs meeting job requirements. GMA Training for Work Scholarships in the business process out-sourcing (BPO) prioritizes labor skills enhancement program for call center agents, medical and legal transcriptions, animation and another software developers. Interested applicants may register at the nearest Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) using the Computerized National Manpower Registry System form which they can get from www.tesda.gov.ph or www.phil-job.net |
