Jagnaanon appellate justice dies at 76 |

JAGNA – The town's highest judicial position holder being judge of the court of appeals succumbed to a massive cerebral hemorrhage due to hypertension on June 2 at his residence in Lahug, Cebu. Late Justice Bernard II. Salas is married to Lourdes Casena-Salas, Ph.D. who is also from Jagna. Justice Dodong Salas is survived by his wife and four children who are all professionals with daughter Marilou following the footsteps of her father who is a lawyer. Justice Salas was confined at the Chung Hua Hospital in Cebu City under the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after days of comatose. His two brothers who are medical practitioners, Dr. Bonifacio Ll. Salas Jr. and Dr. Mariano Ll. Salas disclosed that over fatigue following a special family activity of the Salases could have triggered Dodong's untimely demise. It can be recalled that late Justice Salas clan led by their patriarch Division Engineer for East Visayas and Philippine Reparation Commissioner to Jagna Engr. Bonifacio Salas Sr. considered as Jagna's model family where all the children are all professionals and successful men and women in their field of endeavors. The late Dodong Salas as he is fondly called by friends earned his elementary and secondary education in Jagna while his pre-law and regular law was at the Manuel Luis Quezon University (MLQU) in Manila . He passed the bar examination in 1958, was elected municipal councilor of Jagna later rose to provincial fiscal of Surigao del Norte. He became judge of the Court of First Instance (CFI) in Baybay, Leyte , Danao City then Cebu City until he reached to the appellate court prior to his retirement. Interment is scheduled June on 7, at the Cem Park in Cebu City |
