Now, any Choco Hills tour package is never complete without the Clarin ancestral house |
LOAY - Don't look now but a landmark somewhere in Loay is now a famous tourist attraction. Where before the Clarin Ancestral House was just regarded as one old stone house located in the heart of Loay, the heirs of the late Senator Olegario Clarin Sr., is making no stone unturned to make the old house another favored tourist must-see in this part of Bohol. In an apparent bid to cash in with Bohol 's tourism boom, former mayor Olegario “Ondoy”Clarin, Jr. was in the forefront of the ancestral house's transformation into a tourist destination. Declared as a heritage landmark by the National Historical Institute, the Clarin Ancestral House is now part of the Bohol tour package that includes a trip to the Loboc River Cruize. Bilar Man-Made Forest and the Chocolate Hills in Carmen. Adding color to the prominence of the ancestral house in Bohol ‘s rich cultural history, is the opening of Café Olegario, right at its ground floor. In the best tradition of the house's magnificent architecture reminiscent of the high society living of the local gentry during the colonial times, the Clarin Ancestral House was also no stranger to high society receptions. It also played host to presidents, politicians and other prominent visitors to the island province. And now, what used to be fare concocted exclusively for historical figures and prominent personalities can be savored by present day visitors with the opening of Café Olegario. |
