Lakas-NUCD's VM slot - Montes insecure of Veloso? |
City Councilor Jose Antonio Veloso's edge of family bond with first district political baron, Representative Edgar Chatto seemed to rush the nerves for Vice-Mayor Nuevas Montes in the rivalry for endorsement of Lakas-NUCD city directorate to the party's vice-mayoral official slot. This is based on the opinion of members of the city directorate on the scheduled meeting Saturday night wherein majority of the partymates reportedly expressed strong favor on Veloso over Montes for the vice-mayoral cut. Majority of the members of the city directorate are reportedly to, most likely, pick out Veloso if a convention is held to choose bets for the local administration ticket. The partymates' bias on Veloso's edge ensued after the observation that the councilor made it a practice to personally follow up with Chatto, who is his brother-in-law, the requests of barangay captains for projects that needed the congressman's funding. This made Veloso popular among barangay captains. On Thursday night last week, Montes was accompanied by his brother, former governor David Tirol, when she talked with Governor Erico Aumentado, the provincial chairman of Lakas-NUCD, about holding back the invitation of Mayor Jose Torralba to the city directorate meeting yesterday at the Traveller's Inn. Montes requested the governor to stick to the pronouncement of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Speaker Jose de Venecia, the secretary general of Lakas-NUCD, to uphold the equity of the incumbent to invoke her privilege over Veloso to be the vice-mayoral bet in the administration ticket. Montes asked Aumentado to also explain to former mayor Torralba that as per advise by the President and the Speaker, the party has to adopt the equity of the incumbent. |
