Talibon holds training on women, kid issues

LIBERATING women and advancing the issues on violence against women and children and illegal trafficking of children, Talibon's lady crusader, Councilor Virginia Item, with Department of interior and Local Government (DILG) initiated a two-day seminar workshop December 20-21 held at the CPG Memorial Session Hall. Item who sits as Chairman of the Sangguniang Bayan Committee on women and Children invited the town's 25 barangay captains and secretaries to the gab aimed at orienting officials on the salient features of the Republic Act 9262 and RA 9208.

Openly airing her elation on the invitation turn-out, Kag. Item said the training would help barangay officials as frontliners in the implementation of the cited laws. After the short program at the opening ceremonies, United Nation's Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) provincial project coordinator correlated her led program to the cited as Talibon MSWDO Zosima Gabisan acknowledged the participants and detailed on the rationale and objectives of the gathering. Angelo Mahinay, Talibon Municipal Local Government Operations Officer explained on the Violence Against Women, Nature, Causes, Costs, Form and Effect and Intervention and Familiarization with Barangay Protection order Issuance. Jeffrey Bernasor, Bilar MLGOO talked on the Laws on Violence Against Women (RA 9208, 9262, 8553 and 8505. Ted Mascariñas, San Miguel MLGOO banked on the duties of barangay officials and Law Enforcement while Ruel Tumarao, Carmen MLGOO discussed on the Issuance of BPO, Legal Provisions of RA 9262 and the activity flowchart. The two-day seminar workshop was successfully conducted thru the support of Mayor Item, Kag. Item, the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Auxtero, the support staff and Mahinay who hosted the activity
