Con-ass: How many crimes are committed in thy name

Con-ass, whatever is left of its carcass after it was buried for good, was used as convenient excuse to bag at least two multi-million projects in the third congressional district. The Con-ass alibi was a sequel of another modus used by the same contractor in winning four other projects in the same district. Earlier, the lucky contractor, Pershan Construction, used the 12th Asean Summit in Cebu as justification to corner the four projects worth P64 million also in the third district. Full story

Criminals victimize city establishments anew

JUST when most people were getting carried away by the holiday rush, criminals took advantage of the situation and victimized establishments in the city. A gasoline station located less the two hundred meters from the city police station lost nearly P20T when emboldened criminals struck the establishment in a daring noontime heist December 19. 2 illegally dismissed Veloso Lines workers get favorable ruling
Two workers of a transportation company based in this city became recipients of a favorable ruling from the National Labor Relations Commission regional office. The two, identified as Cirilo Evediente and Gina Vergara, were awarded a total of P361,020.00 after they won an illegal dismissal case they filed against Veloso Lines, a transportation company owned by former Loon vice mayor Manuel Veloso. Ligaya treasures her Joy, raising revenues

This woman raised her barangay's revenue collection from P12T to P22,300 in a year. And, at 42, barangay treasurer Ligaya Tadle did it as a very efficient one-woman tax collection team most local government units could never altogether assemble. This, observers believed is what cemented Tadle's way to win the prestigious regional The Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year (TOBOY), an annual award for best performing barangay-based local government officials in Region 7. Tadle and another Boholano entry in the Sangguniang Kabataan category were the two of Bohol 's regional finalists in the annual search. Full story
