Free clinic for elderly conducted

INABANGA – Senior citizens from all over this town benefited from the free clinic conducted by the Jumamoy administration Tuesday at the Inabanga Cultural Center. The free medical and dental mission was a Christmas offering and a way of expressing the Jumamoy administration's love, gratitude and compassion for the elderly in lieu of the annual senior citizens Christmas celebration. “This is a big boost to the efforts my administration is exerting to provide sustainable basic health services for the people,” Mayor Josephine Socorro Jumamoy said. Dr. Mae Lilibeth Melicor, municipal health officer (MHO) and local health personnel coordinated the activity.

Common complaints of the senior citizens included hypertension, arthritis, rheumatism and asthma among others. Seven physicians from the Francisco Dagohoy Municipal Hospital (FDMH), the municipalities of Getafe and Tubigon, Visayas Primary Health Care Services (VPHCS) and Gallares Memorial Provincial Hospital (GMPH) in Talibon, six dentists and six dental aides from the Provincial Health Office and nursing students from the Holy Name University (HNU) in Tagbilaran City attended to their needs.

Some patients availed of free tooth extraction services while the rural health midwives and barangay health workers helped in the registration, getting of vital signs and listing the ailment for consultation. Jumamoy thanked all her implementing arms in the successful conduct of the free clinic and for the fruitful and effective implementation of the all the programs especially those for the elderly. She also expressed gratitude to Dr. Reymoses Cabagnot, provincial health officer for sending physicians and personnel. She also thanked Mayors Paulo Lasco of Tubigon and Theresa Camacho of Getafe for letting their respective MHOs participate in the free clinic for the seniors. Members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) also participated in the activity.
