THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comforts, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

By: GUADALUPE ORILLO JUMAWID

I am Mrs. Guadalupe Orillo Jumawid, from Quinoguitan, Loboc, Bohol , married to Benedicto Jumawid, from the town of Carmen , Bohol , but now residing in Lumikula Street , Waipahu , Hawaii , USA . I want to proclaim the glory of GOD for all the comforts that is bestowed upon me and my family. I can not really forget all these things. I was born from poor parents and I even experienced going to the neighboring municipalities to help in harvesting palay for our consumption. God made a way for me to be delivered from the bondage of poverty. My exit from the Philippines to Hawaii in 1969 was really a miracle. He has given me the opportunity to migrate and work in Hawaii and its really God's plan to let me live in all His comforts.

I did not finish my college course, yet God gave me a very nice job in a military hospital where I was able to retire with an award. On December 3, 2001 my husband was struck with a very weird disease, a very rare case and the doctors said it was one in a million. Before he was sick, he was given a”flushot”. Two weeks later, he suffered lose bowel movement with severe stomach-ache. After attending a mass, he suddenly lost his strength, he could no longer get his keys so he was admitted at Honolulu 's Kaiser Hospital . He was diagnosed with viral “Guillamberry Syndrome”. His doctors said if immunized persons with flu are weak and could not resist the germs the person could be knocked down. Probably, my husband was weak when given the shot. His whole body from below the neck could not move.

Thanks God, his speech was not affected.

Praise God that my sister-in-laws here in the Philippines are already living witnesses of God's goodness and mercy so they requested and invited the Healing Ministry in the Diocese of Tagbilaran for a prayer meeting of their intention to pray for their brother who was in the hospital. By faith they called and informed us that God showed a little sign of hope: my husband was able to move his fingers. We called them up and requested them to continue their prayer for fast recovery and healing. While at that time, three were admitted of the same case in the hospital, other cases have remained even after we were discharged from the hospital. The other one died. Even with a seemingly serious condition, my husband was admitted for only a month and after 10 months he was able to walk. After discharge, and without shedding a cent, he submitted for a month of swimming pool, physical and occupational therapies but all these things are GOD'S blessings. Alleluiah, GOD is merciful. He did not allow the enemy to steal the blessings He gave us so we too share our blessings. Now we are helping the Ministry in their outreaches in Bohol. Thanks God for the privilege of healing my husband, He led me to serve Him by supporting His works. Thanks God we are home again and we have been here in the Philippines for a couple of months.
