Fisherman tagged in killing of peer

They should have been hunting for fish but for some reason one fisherman killed his fellow fisherman in Guindulman town last week. The victim was identified as one Isidro Castolo, 42, married, fisherman and a resident of Sitio Pugaling, Barangay Basdio, Guindulman town. The suspect was identified as his fellow fisherman Timoteo Amoguis, 59, married and a resident of the same place. Initial investigation showed that the incident took place about 3 pm last Dec. 4 in Sitio Pugaling, Barangay Basdio. Police investigators learned that the suspect quietly entered the residence of the victim who was sleeping at the time. Without any warning, the suspect who was armed with a hunting knife stabbed the unsuspecting victim on his stomach.

The victim died instantly. After the killing, Amoguis immediately surrendered to a barangay tanod identified as Veronico Peligrino and a relative identified as Antonio Amoguis. According to the police investigation, the motive for the killing was a personal grudge. While the report revealed that the suspect killed the victim in retaliation for a previous incident, there was no report on what transpired earlier between the two. Amoguis is now locked at the Guindulman PNP jail pending the filing of appropriate charges against him.
