Boholana earns a HE service award |

A Boholana, Editha Yecyec Torres recently earns the Most Outstanding Home Economics Service Award (HESA) for Region 7 during the national awarding ceremony at the Ecotech Center , Department of Education-Regional Office 7 in Lahug, Cebu City recently. The ceremonies happened during the Philippine Home Economics Association (PHEA) national convention. In getting her award, she was joined by Dr. Milagros C. Gabia, TLE Regional Supervisor and Maria Luisa A. Ramirez, Education Supervisor I for TLE and EPP. Both, together with Dr. Elpidio M. Jala, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of Bohol and Tagbilaran City Schools Division OIC, gave high recommendation for the award. In the past years, Thelma Sambas of the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT) and Maria Luisa A. Ramirez were also Boholana recipients of the PHEA Most Outstanding Home Economics Recognition for Service (HERS) award. Torres, a TLE Culinary Arts Teacher of the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School was conferred award for her innovation and dedication for her work. The PHEA, founded in 1948 by Helena Z. Benitez, is a national non-governmental professional organization of institutions, associations, organizations and individuals concerned with the promotion of Home Economics. The organization helps them gather updates and share information on Home Economics trends and practices at all school levels. Likewise, it also dwells on issues that affect women and households and ways through which Home Economics can contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of families and communities. PHEA is preparing for its participation in the 14th ARAHE Congress in August 2007 in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia and the 21st IFHE World Congress in Luciene , Switzerland . |
