NEDA , SC set rules in infrastructure projects

The National Economic and Development Authority and the Supreme Court are organizing a legal forum sometime this month with other government agencies and organizations engaged in infrastructure projects. The object of this forum is to thresh out problems, bottlenecks and other problems affecting implementation of infrastructure projects. Legal issues and consequences are also determined so such problem maybe addressed before a project is to be started.

“Many government infrastructure projects suffered implementation delays due to legal impediments. The planned legal forum aims to consolidate all legal issues and problems on the implementation of infrastructure projects, submit recommendations with corresponding action plan and activities and come up with a Memorandum of Agreement or MOA identifying the responsibilities of participants.” said Atty. Fortunato R. Abrenilla, NEDA Legal Staff Director.

Before the main forum, a mini fora will be held to help identify and resolve individual issues. Abrenilla added. The NEDA also urged the review of the legal issues affecting the project before a project is to be to the Investment Coordinating Committee or ICC or any approving body.
