Talibon honors CPG, Nov. 4 |
TALIBONGNONS endeared by the memory of their son, the late Carlos P. Garcia, who was known for his Filipino First Policy l at a gathering to celebrate his 110th birthday anniversary last November 4. During simple rites at sitio Loy-a, barangay San Agustin of this town, Mayor Juanario Item led Talibongrons in the celebrations. A walk for a cause (alay lakad) early in. he morning started the day's activity at the junction of the national highway to the CPG Shrine. Relatives of the late president, national, provincial and barangay officials and employees, students and the people who idolized the local icon of honor attended the celebration. Rev. Fr. Mark Martin Estillore, San Agustin parish priest officiated the holy mass offered to the late rational chief executive. Relatives of CPG and all attending government agencies also offered fresh flowers at the pedestal of his monument During the commemorative program, Mayor Item recalled the life and works of the most outstanding Boholano of all times. He dared the youth to follow the poor and humble boy whose tending carabaos allowed him time to dream big and achieve it real bad. Item also stressed that united in a common vision and dream, Talibon can make it to the top. |
