Bohol candidate steps into the nat'l contest

By: By Dodong Comiling

THIS one qualifies for one small step for a student and one big leap for Bohol. A Boholano candidate beat 12 other candidates and effectively claimed her slot at the national search for Miss Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP). Joahana Feliz del Mar Pilayre emerged the fairest of them all in a contest held during the sixth regional skills development and competition last October 24-26 at Siquijor State College in Larena, Siquijor.

The yearly competition is organized by the Department of Education to enhance and develop the student's skills, talents and abilities. Pilayre, from Ubay National Science High School representing Bohol Division competed in the title for Miss Step and came home victorious as she topped the tightly contested slot. While taking the crown, she also won the Best in Filipiniana award.

Meanwhile, Bohol 's candidate for Mr. Step did a fine job to emerge as the first runner up during the equally competitive pageant held in the jam-packed site. Boholano Rio Cadenas, from Sierra Bullones did not frustrate the delegation when he romped and rule the ramp to be second best.

The competition was represented by twelve candidates from different divisions of Region VII: Mandaue City , Oriental Negros, Talisay City , Danao City , Tanjay City , Cebu City , Cebu Province , Cebu City First Impaired School , Dumaguete City , Abellana National School , Lapu-Lapu City and Bohol . All were already winners from their own division. Hannah as what Joahana is fondly called represents region 7 in a competition to be held in Baguio City this coming November for Miss Step National competitions.
