Cristal e works to integrate Quality research culture

INTO giving the best quality education and training for their students, the faculty of the Cristal-e College completed their third phase of training workshop of integrating research in the schools curriculum to assure their graduates a continuing education and learning. The three day seminar–workshop on “Integration of Research in the Curriculum” was held from October 26 to 28.

The Office of Research, Development and Planning with the Academic Division developed the concept of equipping graduates research skills. A skills standard was defined by semester and academic year levels for undergraduate programs. This is done to prepare students for the benchmarking that is to be conducted every second week of March of each school year. During the seminar – workshop, the college teachers identified topics where skills standards and objectives are integrated in each major period.

The research requirements were defined for each period; the requirements clarified and determined by level of complexity. This they integrated into the instructional guide that they designed for the selected course syllabus they have chosen. The standards and the skills were aligned in the instructional guide's objectives, strategies, learning activities and assessment. Earlier, two seminar–workshops of the teachers conducted last July and September this year focused on the use of Bloom's Revised Taxonomy (1998) and the assessment of instruction.

The training now is designed to dovetail on the two workshops and the “alignment” principle was illustrated in the design of instruction. The knowledge and skills learned by the faculty are actualized in their instructional guides, which they use in teaching. The training is part of the continuing faculty development on institutional quality management, while a parallel seminar for the students and faculty will be conducted this November and December 2006. By this, Cristal e College hopes to strengthen the research culture in order to attain its vision – mission and goals.
