Ubay to implement parking ordinance |

UBAY- IN a week, Ubay will show off both a visible and an invisible facelift. For those inclined to see the physical change, the new parking scheme in and around the public market would be easily noticeable. What may not be as obvious is the revenues generated from such a legislative act, said local revenue sources attempting to cash in on the parking and terminal operations regulations power of the state. Just lately, a timetable has been set in the implementation of approved municipal ordinance number 04 series of 2006, said Municipal information Officer Virginia Dupa. Municipal authorities said the ordinance's information drive lasts until July 15, the implementation starts July 16. The ordinance is establishes parking areas and delineating spaces in the Ubay public market for all public, private utility vehicles and conveyances plying routes from all points of the province of Bohol to the municipality of Ubay and vice versa. The ordinance provides for open spaces that will be utilized as parking area, as well as appropriate markings or signposts set for easy identification. The Ubay commercial parking area ordinance also regulates the number of buses, jeepneys, vans allowed to park at 30 minute intervals. According to the new measure, parking area for transportation not yet scheduled for departure is in the vacant space fronting Ramon Magsaysay gymnasium. There, it is repair activity is banned. Likewise, the ordinance regulates speed limit to vehicles passing through one way streets within and around the Ubay public market. Mayor Eutiquio Bernales has instructed Carlos Delima, market supervisor to coordinate with Police Superintendent Eduardo Saavedra for the traffic route implementation. He said violation of any provisions in the ordinance would be dealt with accordingly. Bernales also hoped the ordinance authored by Kagawad Maximo Boyles Jr. would not only decongest traffic flow, but also fill town coffers. |
