Talibon gets new FITS for technology transfer

TALIBON – NON Conventional technology sharing here gets a new fit with the Farmers Information Technology Services Center or the government popularized Techno Gabay Pinoy. A launching of the FITS here June 9, had local farmers and fishers all excited as center also features upland and dryland farming and marine technology for island dwellers.

For Mayor Juanario who was on official business, Vice Mayor Restituto Auxtero led the cutting of the ribbon as assisted by Dr. Carol Daquio, Agricultural Technology Institute (ATI) head. The ceremony had visitors coming form the University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños headed by Dr. Bessie Burgos, Marivic Catada, Central Visayas Techno Gabay Program Coordinator and Engr. Arsenio Mesiona, Provincial Techno Gabay Coordinator, municipal and barangay officials and barangay livestock workers.

A short program was staged after the ceremonies. In his message. Vice Mayor Auxtero thanked the people responsible in bringing the projects to the town. He proudly informed the visitors that Talibon is the birthplace of late President Carlos P. Garcia, the fourth president of the Republic of the Philippines and the only first class municipality of Bohol province.

Technology and Promotion Division of PCARRD, Dr. Bessie Burgos congratulated the people for being the fourth town beneficiary of the Techno Gabay project. She detailed the center services, which the center offers to the towns' people. She stressed that it would help the farmers solve their problem encountered in farming. She added that the center is the fourth opened in Bohol province. Meanwhile Mayor Juanario Item led the municipal officials and employees in celebrating the 108th Freedom Day. On his message Mayor Item exhorted the people to strive against poverty, that which truly gives the people its dreamt-of freedom.

The celebration was started with a prayer followed by the flag raising ceremony participated in by the national, municipal and barangay officials and employees. After the flag ceremony, wreath laying was done at the foot of the flagpole followed by an impromptu program.
