Scion of appliance magnate tops exam for CPAs |
AN appliance magnate scion in Tagbilaran City recently proved to the nation that a Yap is really meant for topping in what ever it puts its hands into. Warren Bompat-Yap Jr. took it literally when he vowed to uphold the Holynamian tradition of excellence. He balanced his ledgers and emerged as the country's second best at the recent examinations for Certified Public Accountants (CPA). Yap shared his excellent feat with the school for surpassing the national passing rate of 24%. Holy Name University got 39%, ranking third in the country's over-all passing percentage among schools fielding 26-50 examinees. Yap and HNU feats in 2006 also perpetuated similar distinctions achieved by two other Holynamians, Susana Uy (Tagbilaran) and a certain Murcia (Loon) who each showed HNU academic training superiority in the past years. Yap was among the fifteen HNU examinees who passed the May 2006 Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Board Examinations. “What makes Yap 's feat unique is that he showed to all those “ivy league” schools and Manila 's top training institutions that HNU is capable of producing the best,” a Yap classmate told the Post. Yap , a scion of a predominantly business-minded and wealthy family who is leading several business ventures in Tagbilaran City and in the entire province as well is indubitably loaded to have himself enrolled in Manila 's fancy schools. Yet he his not fancy that. He chose HNU-Tagbilaran. His family owns Wrenleys Appliance Plaza and Wregent Hotel. And to HNU, he also gave that academic distinction that would make every fancy school's commerce and accounting department green with envy. HNU also takes pride in the victories scored by Elaine U. Arcales (Tagbilaran City), Myranel S. Banga (Catigbian), Juleah Anne P. Caballo (Baclayon), Philip Roseller S. Cajes and Jonalee M Coja (Carmen). Also passing are Josephine V. Conson (Inabanga), Trinita Corazon A. Fuego (Panglao) Silver D. Gran (Alburquerque), Dario P. Laurden (Batuan) and Dino P. Malugao (Baclayon). Jevios Mar T. Monton (Tagbilaran) Roy R. Pacot (Baclayon), Rochell G. Palaca ( Valencia ) and Melody Faith R. Trigo ( Tagbilaran City ). With the recent achievements, HNU has truly carved a name in the schools to beat at arguably one of the country's toughest and most grueling number tests. |
