Treasure hunt caper buried for good |
Once more with feelings. Whatever happened to the much publicized treasure hunting expedition which was featured prominently in this paper? We have it from an unimpeacable source that it has long been buried six feet below the ground. Our interest was pricked again after we heard that at least three Bohol mayors who were key players of the caper were reported to have thrown in the towel in surrender after losing a sizeable amount. The names of the mayors were said to be Domy Chatto of Balilihan, Brady Dano of Batuan And Amet Rebusora of Antequera. There was no figure available from their end but it was deemed to be quite a pile. The only information we got who lost who was the one about a city businessman identified to be the family of Dodong Malmis. The involvement of this conservative but wealthy family raised several eyebrows because it was widely known in the city's business community that the family is so secretive that one won't believe that it would easily fall into a trap like the treasure hunting swindle. It is a truism in business that you win some and lose some . Charge it to experience may be the best mechanism to assuage wounded feelings as a result. At least we should be careful next time especially when glib talking men and women promised potential victims the moon and the stars. The best argument against con men is if the offer is too good to be to be true, then investigate. |
