Doverte heads BOGWASDC, induction rites set May 20

NEW YORK CITY . ENGR. Serge Doverte of Buenavista, Bohol will take the helms and be sworn into office as president of the Boholanos of Greater Washington D.C. (BOGWASDC) in an induction rites at the Holiday Inn, in Baltimore , Maryland , USA , May 20, 2006. Other officers to be inducted are Rodulfo Jun Yator, Vice-Pres. (External); Socorro Vidanes Doverte, Vice-President (Internal); Helen Japos-Segovia, secretary; Corazon Nickolson, auditor; and Adelaida Bacareza Velasquez, PRO.

The Board of Directors who will also be sworn include Nilda Namocatcat, Engr. Robert Baquir, Natie Namocatcat Roxas, and Susie Datoy. Special assistants to the president are Atty. Roderick Bustos, Racquel Gonzaga, Nenet Gonzaga, Atty. Juliet Gapos, Jovie Pinto, and Erlinda Nar Tates. Engr. Doverte said that the induction of the new set of officers of BOGWASDC will also see the coronation of Mrs. Julieta Gapos Watlington.

Ms. Watlington won during the search for Mrs. Philippines BOGWASDC. Watlington will be crowned by Mrs. Betty Veloso-Garcia, chairperson of Tigum Bol-anon sa Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) and she will be escorted by her husband Mr. Gabino Garcia.

BOGWAS DC was founded and organized by Doverte along with Ramon Lomosbog and Fidelita Lim-Levy in Baltimore , Maryland , USA on Dec. 27, 2001. The organization has helped many Boholanos and funded scholarship programs to deserving students here. It has also conducted vocational training course in electrical, plumbing, masonry and carpentry. Doverte, an engineer himself has coordinated with American engineers to facilitate the training courses.
