Who is Joy Ayag?

JUST why would Julieto “Joy” Corona Ayag, who was earlier exchanging text messages with Victor Olayvar deny knowing his own relative? And why would he spin more complicated tales that has muddled the investigation behind the killing of a known farmer rights advocate? Other than that he was driving the slain Victor on a KMX motorcycle on that fateful September 7, slept on the same house and sang songs with him the night before, little is known about the man. Just who is Joy Ayag that he could afford to lose the respect of militants for disowning his relative(Olayvar) at the last moment of his life?

The mysterious 34 year old Ayag, single, jobless resident of Tangkigan Mabini Bohol has also baffled Karapatan Secretary General Lisa Serenio. Even Bayan Muna Bohol chairman John Ruiz III could not read why he would blatantly lie about the circumstances connecting him to the slain leader.

In fact, Pssupt. Arturo Evangelista was genuinely surprised when former Task Force Karapatan head Ira Pamat admitted she knows that Ayag like she knows Victor. Maria, Victor's wife could not understand why he would appear innocent when asked why he would disavow Victor when they have been texting for a long time. According to sources dug up by the Post, Julieto lives a mysterious life in Mabini.

Other than being linked to an illicit relationship with a local official, the Post could not get much confirmation than the rumor that wrapped up his life. Sources revealed on condition of anonymity, however, share that Ayag sometimes could not be found for days. When he reemerges, he'd appear to have money or give tales of his exploits while name-dropping very influential personalities in town.

He accordingly mane-drops a relative who had a position at the National Bureau of Investigation, a perfect ploy for his open brandishing of weapons, sources say. Other than that, he also name-drops a relative who retired as a cop and spins similar tales of exploits claiming he is a trusted undercover operative. Sources from Mabini would rather refuse to comment when asked about how Ayag lives, though several would say they'd talk only if they are to remain unidentified.

In an interview, he said he was a seminarian of the Capuchin missionaries in Mindanao , a fact that was also bared by witnesses during a talk with the slain victim a night before the fateful day. While unconfirmed reports said Ayag boasts as an undercover agent, it also allows him an effective way to muscle himself among Mabini residents to perpetuate his “activities” that sources would not explicitly say.

With the secretive information available, what could only be surmised is that his lying could buy him time to protect the hidden segment of his private life. Other than that, he could also be protecting a far more important secret that could buy him more days to live.
