Swertres financier nabbed in Clarin

A small-time financier was arrested in Clarin town as pressure mounted on the police to stop the illegal numbers game that is increasingly becoming popular in the province. The suspect was identified as one Bonifacio Doblas Quiño, of legal age and a resident of Barangay Nahawan, Clarin town. Quiño was arrested during a raid conducted in the evening of Aug. 1. The raid was conducted by virtue of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Venancio Amila of the Regional Trial Court Branch 3 based in Tagbilaran City.

The members of the raiding team recovered coins and tally sheets from Quiño who has been tagged as the financier of the numbers game in Nahawan. Aside from Nahawan, swertres is also reported to be operating in barangays Bugtongbod and Poblacion in Clarin. Clarin however is only one of many towns in Bohol where the illegal numbers game is being operated.

Swertres bases the winning number combination on the lotto draw which is legally operated by the government. Gov. Erico Aumentado had earlier issued an ultimatum to Supt. Arturo Evangelista to stop the illegal numbers game. The ultimatum however has not been able to curb the continued operation of swertres in Bohol.
