Saudi prince to invest in Bohol

GOV. Erico Aumentado has been soliciting far and wide for investments that would develop Bohol along the areas of its two economic drivers: tourism and agriculture – according to its vision, mission and goals. His latest endorser turns out to be no less than President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who yesterday announced that as an offshoot to her visit to Saudi Arabia last year, Saudi Prince Al Walid bin Talal is bent on buying Bohol Beach Club property for $150 million on which to build a six-star resort of The Raffles fame with the Ayalas. Lim, Jaz lead Joe, Veloso in survey

Mayor Dan Lim and Vice Mayor Nuevas Tirol Montes lead their potential rivals going into the deadline for the filing of certificates of candidacies for the May 14 elections. Lim is expecting a rematch with old nemesis, former Mayor Jose Torralba while Montes expects to be challenged by Councilor Jose Antonio Veloso. A survey conducted by the Holy Name University (HNU) showed that both Lim and Montes posted impressive leads over their potential rivals. The survey was conducted from Feb. 11-19. Full story

442nd Sandugo rites Commemoration set

THE historic treaty of friendship is set to be relived anew as the Bohol Sandugo Foundation, Inc. primes for the blood compact commemorative activities on March 16. The whole-day affair kicks-off at 6:30 am with a Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Blood Compact Shrine in Bool. Top officials headed by Governor Erico B. Aumentado and Mayor Dan Neri Lim are among the expected personalities. Full story

Members of the Ninth Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tagbilaran City count as boldest legacy to leave, it's leverage to steer a once small city en route to becoming a prime eco-cultural tourism hub in Asia in 2015. This, as the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) cited Tagbilaran City as one of the 20 competitive cities in the country with barely three years having the 9th set of city councilors in the legislative service. TransCo posts 3% up in ‘06 power delivery
NATIONAL Transmission Corporation (TransCo) announces that it delivered a total of 105,228.4 MegaWatt-months of power to the country's major electricity grids in 2006–a 3.0% increase over the year-ago level of 102,186.8 MW-months. Power delivery measured in MegaWatt-months refers to the sum of TransCo's monthly billing demands for 2006. Full story
