Informatics Holds 5th Annual IT Quiz Bowl |
Informatics Computer Institute has once again brought its commitment of bringing information technology closer to the Boholanos as manifested by the success of its 5th Annual IT Quiz Bowl which was conducted last Friday, March 9, 2007 at the activity center of the Island City Mall. The event comprised of the Individual Category and Team Category was participated by 27 and 28 high schools in the province respectively. Charles Boagas, accompanied by his coach Cristina Apale from Corella National High School , bested 26 other participants in the Individual Category. Geoffrey Chem Honculada from Hinlayagan High School in Trinidad came in first place while Rulina Bulac from Biking National High School finished in second. The last two winners were under the supervision of Ray Hope Puracan and Jonas Ledesma respectively. Meanwhile, representatives from Holy Spirit School grabbed the Grand Champion award in the team category. They were Marvin Gabo and Mary Shay Cubal, both trained by Gladiole Gabato. Participants from Tagbilaran City Science High School Adonis Gallentes and Mary Descery Joy Bongcac were declared first prize winners. They were under the training of Jenelou John Israel. Judelyn Mae Ramao and Julius Patrick Saletrero coached by Mari Jocyl Payales from Sacred Heart Academy in Loon received second prize. The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Rene Relampagos who shared words of inspiration and encouragement. He was with Informatics Center Manager Victoriano Tirol III who formally opened the affair. A battle of supremacy, the 5th Informatics IT Quiz Bowl was fun and educational both for the participating schools and the rest of those who were present at the venue. The competition's aim of creating camaraderie and a spirit of competitiveness amongst the various high schools in Bohol has truly been realized. Other participating schools were Dr. Cecilo Putong National High School, Bohol Wisdom School, Holy Name University, Lourdes High School in Panglao, Tabalong National High School in Dauis; Candijay High School, Bilar National High School, Ubay Science High School, Colegio dela Medalla Milagrosa, Tagbilaran Grace Christian School, Mansasa High School, Cahayag National High School, Tabuan National High School, University of Bohol, Bantolinao National High School, Lila High School, Santa Monica Institute in Mabini, Sandingan High School, Valencia National High School, Baclayon High School, Loboc High School, Guinsularan National High School. |
