BIR launches 07 tax campaigns

 

SUSTAINING the country's capabilities, local revenue district officer Rogelio Balaga with the employees of the Bureau of Internal Revenue R revenue district office here ushers in the tax season with the launching of its year-round tax campaign programs with the theme: Share to the nation's progress, pay your correct taxes.

The launching activity started with a motorcade along the city's main thoroughfares with large business establishments of the city joining. A tax symposium/seminar followed at JJs Seafoods Village attended by the accountants and bookkeepers who were reminded of their Quarterly Income Tax deadlines the fourth and 2006 final return on April 16.

There, the accreditation of bookkeepers and things for compliance was also rediscussed. Also taken of was the on going No Audit Program (NAP) ending on May 15 and the Abatement offered for Delinquent Accounts until March 30.

No less than City Mayor Dan Neri Lim of Tagbilaran, who believes in truth in tax reporting guested the activity. In his speech, Mayor Lim stressed the vital role of the bookkeepers in the process of taxation, them being the bridge of truth between taxpayer and the BIR.

“They can make or unmake a tax return, urge a taxpayer to pay or not pay the correct tax due, Lim said. Both Lim and Balaga also appealed for continued support in the quest for hitting goals set by the government and in inculcating in taxpayers the morality of the patriotic duty of paying correct taxes, too.
