Pichay eager to help build Panglao airport

A senatorial candidate has expressed interest yesterday to help in the prosecution of the Panglao Bohol International Airport . Prospero Pichay ,the senatorial bet from Surigao del Sur, made this assurance upon arrival at the city pier yesterday.. Pichay was part of Team Unity, the administration candidates for senator, that stormed Bohol yesterday. The Team Unity was part of the entourage led by President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo. The lady President and the administration senatorial aspirants graced the Bohol Youth Day at the Garcia Sports Oval. Aside from the Bohol Youth Day celebration, the President also launched yesterday the anti-drug campaign dubbed as Barkada Kontra sa Droga and the Green Philippines. President Macapagal-Arroyo left this city for Manila after her speaking engagement with the youths of Bohol .

In an exclusive interview, the Surigao lawmaker said with the construction of the Panglao airport, the more Bohol will experience a tourism boom. During the same interview, Pichay also said part of his tourism program is to preserve cultural legacies. He said once elected senator he will closely coordinate with provincial officials in promoting tourism especially in the preservation of cultural heritage and the environment.

Asked about his dismal showing in the surveys, Pichay said it was obvious that he landed in the doldrums because when the surveys were conducted he was still unsure of his plan to run. He expected that his survey showing will improve in the next few days when the electorate learn that he is already in the thick of the fight. According to Pichay, the survey appeared inaccurate citing incidents in the past where the survey rating of a particular candidate was not the actual result in the final counting. He cited the case of Jamby Madrigal in the 2004 polls who was always a tail ender in the surveys but ended up in the sixth slot. Pichay along with seven other senatorial wannabes flew to Bukidnon yesyerday afternoon to attend a rally arranged by Cong. Miguel Zubiri, another adminitration bet for senator. hey will be early this morning in time for a press conference sponsored by the Team Unity at 8:00 AM at the Bohol Tropics Resort
