Battle of 2 inaanaks of GMA looms in gubernatorial fight

A very popular governor who is the president of the Union of Local Authorities of the Phils. was beaten to the draw in the filing of certificate of candidacy by a candidate who claims to be the inaanak or god son of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Not only that Marjun Magat jumped the gun on Gov. Erico Aumentado, he also challenged the incumbent provincial executive in a one-on-one electoral combat in the May 2007 polls. If the plans of the two protagonists will not go haywire, the gubernatorial fight will pit two inaanaks of the lady President. Magat has been claiming to all those who care to listen of his GMA connection that he is a godson of the President.

He even boasted that he has the blessing of GMA in making the gubernatorial crack. Aumentado is a true blue presidential inaanak after the President stood as the principal sponsor during the Aumentado couple's ruby wedding anniversary last year. Armed with the element of youth, Magat made known his gubernatorial aspiration after he was the first to file his certificate of candidacy as soon as the Commission on Elections announced the start of filing last January 12. Magat is the son of Mario P. Magat, Sr. of Macabebe, Pampanga and Juliana Sun, a Boholona. According to him, although his mother is a descendant of the Royal Family of China, deep in his heart, he is a true-blooded Boholano since he is born in this city. In Bohol , he wears like a badge of honor his appointment as president of the Pro-Gloria NGO, the Friends of PGMA and at the same time, co-anchor of a radio program “Voice of the Youth”. It is aired nightly over radio station DYTR. He is also proud that the foundation, which was only founded in 2006, even with out help from the government, was able to raise P9.8M for its projects in Panglao.

Is there a way that he will back out from the electoral race?

He balked at the prospect that he will withdraw his bid saying the President even found a solution to make his run for the post of governor uncontested. To prove just how determined he is to clinch the position now held by Aumentado, the President reportedly offered the incumbent to accept a Cabinet position to pave the way for her other inaanak to become Bohol governor without any outside interference.
