Raped girl found dead in Ubay on ‘Innocents Day' |
A girl was found floating lifeless on a river on “Innocents' Day” in Ubay town. She was believed raped before she was killed. The four-year-old victim, whose name was being withheld, was a native of Barangay San Vicente, Ubay town. According to reports reaching Camp Dagohoy in Tagbilaran City , the victim's lifeless body was sighted about 6 am last Dec. 28. The body was floating on the river that drew the attention of villagers who immediately reported the sighting to authorities. Based on the post-mortem examination conducted by the municipal health officer, the girl bore an injury on her forehead believed caused by a hard object. At the same time, the examination showed lacerations on the girl's private parts prompting authorities to suspect that she was raped before she was killed. Police authorities are now looking for a man believed to hold information on the brutal rape-slay case. The man was identified as one Eugenio Pinili, of legal age and a native of Barangay Bagacay in neighboring Talibon town. According to initial investigation, Pinili was among a still undetermined number of men who engaged in a drinking spree with the victim's uncle last Dec. 27. Pinili disappeared without a trace at about the same time the girl was missing before she was found dead. Police operatives are conducting follow-up operations to solve the gruesome murder which ironically was discovered on the day celebrated in honor of the innocent children murdered on the orders of King Herod. Herod ordered the killing of children two years and under after the wise men did not return to him as instructed. Estimating the period from the birth of the child until he ordered the killing, Herod directed his troops to the infamous “slaughter of the innocents” that is traditionally remembered on Dec. 28. |
