11th NP Congress set Dec. 17–19 in Bohol

 

THE 11th National Press (NP) Congress is set in Bohol from Dec. 17 to 19, this year. The 3-day congress, conducted annually by the publishers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PAPI) will feature a roundtable press forum on media and tourism, 2nd summit on countryside media and culture and a symposium on investment opportunities. It also puts in a reception and fellowship, a cultural night and extravaganza. Its order of business include reports, discussions, actions and adoption of resolutions on various concerns and issues and as an added bonus, participants experience the exciting tour of famous cultural, historical, and scenic attractions of Bohol.

The congress' theme for this year is “Partners for Progress: Media and Tourism.” Juan P. Dayang, PAPI president, said “to ensure that every delegate can maximize the fruitfulness and enjoyment of the yearly press congress, PAPI has chosen Bohol, the country's emerging prime tourist destination” as the venue of this year's biggest media gathering.

Dayang added that the press congress will afford its delegates to see the famous Panglao Island , the scenic Loboc River cruise, the world-famous Chocolate Hills, an encounter with the Tarsier (the world's smallest primate), kilometers of Bilar made-made forest, the centuries old Baclayon Church and the Historic Blood compact.

Arrangement is also being worked-out for multi-awarded Loboc Children's Choir, recent winner of an international award in Europe , to perform before the media men and women, Dayang said. Invited to attend the 11th national press congress are publishers, broadcasters, editors, news directors, columnists, commentators, radio and TV hosts, reporters, public relations, public information officers, corporate communication directors, photojournalists and advisers and other communicators.
