All systems go for tourism festival

IT is all systems go as Maribojoc wants to impress itself in the tourism map of the province. Maribojoc officials led by dynamic Mayor Gavino Redulla has set a four day tourism festival, an activity bound to present the coastal town as one of the tourist destinations here. The nobler aim, of course is to promote Maribojoc tourist spots via the 2nd Annual Tourism Festival on November 20-24. This as the local officials envisioned tourism as a miracle solution to dent on the economic emancipation dream of the Maribocjanons.

The Tourism Festival starts Monday, Nov. 20, with the Bagsakan sa Presyo.” Adopting the flea market concept, organizers said goods, agricultural products, marine resources and other items produced and sourced in Maribojoc will be sold at the Maribojoc Cultural and Sports Center and Rizal street in Poblacion area. A motorcade and parade will also signal the opening of the 2nd Maribojoc Annual Tourism Festival at 8:30 on November 20. The parade will also have Maribojoc Officials, Barangay Officials and private sector touring around the major thoroughfares of the town.

In the evening of the first day, the second edition of “B” Ba Jud Ka” (Videoke Singing Contest) becomes the attraction of the night as a grill and barbecue set up presents the contest in its true color and ambiance. As “Bagsakan sa Presyo” takes its second day on the same venue, a photo exhibit of Maribojoc tourist destinations take place at the cultural center where LGU-Maribojoc trained tourist guides of the LGU-Maribojoc will explain to guests what are in store for them in Maribojoc.

November 21, at 7:00 pm , a free band concert stages at the Maribojoc Wharf vicinity where local and invited bands from Tagbilaran and nearby towns attempt to delight the crowd with their musical virtuosity. Day 3 of the festival ushers in synchronized activities at the Abatan River Tour via Floating restaurant, pumpboats, kayaks and small bancas and the opening of an Agro-Industrial Fair in Punta Cruz Historical Watch Tower and Park. At the historic grounds of the Castillo del San Vicente, agri-products, handicrafts, processed foods, pasalubong items and other products will be sold. Moreover, festival games and amusements, parlor games, boat raising and Bingo Socials will be the activity of the day.

On November 22, Global Hotbabes Beauty Contest romps at the Maribojoc Cultural Center where admission is by tickets. Mindanao beauties become the main attraction of the night. On Thursday, an evening of disco and ballroom dancing throbs at the Cultural Center sponsored by SK Federated, spearheaded by Kag. Marian Veloso. The day also presents a thanksgiving mass at 9 am at the Sta. Cruz Parish Church.
