The robbery cases against the four were filed by Assistant City Prosecutor Romeo Chatto before the Regional Trial Court Multiple Salas for inquest proceedings. The four suspects were positively identified by witness Rowena Libres, 25, a helper of the victim identified as banker Deodato Butawan, a branch manager of the BPI Family Bank. Libres pointed to the victims as the ones who broke into the Butawan residence and held her up about 11:30 midnight last Aug. 12. The suspects carted off a Sony digital camera worth P30,000, P3,000 in cash aside from dollar bills of still undetermined amount. Less than 24 hours after the caper however, the four found themselves behind prison bars. A tip from a concerned citizen alerted the Tagbilaran PNP about the suspicious movements of the men renting space in a house along M. Parras street. In the follow-up operation conducted by responding policemen, three of the suspects were positively identified by the helper and were immediately arrested. All three, Manuel, Martinez and Anabo, are transients from Mindanao. The policemen recovered the digital camera, lady's wallet, dollar bill, .38 caliber revolver and knife used in the hold-up. During custodial investigation, the three suspects broke down and revealed the identity of the fourth suspect. Bacog was subsequently arrested in Manga district. |
