Van owner pays P40T to fixer's fake papers |
An owner of a van-for-hire learned too late that she had been conned by a man who operates as a fixer in the area near the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Dampas district. The victim was identified as one Cecile Saynani, 34, a resident of Manga district this city. According to the victim, she went to the LTO to renew the franchise of her van-for-hire. She enlisted the assistance of the suspect identified as Eusebio Amolata, of legal age, reportedly a native of Candijay town but presently residing in Dampas district, Tagbilaran. The victim said the suspect promised her that he will be the one who will take care of the processing of the renewal for her vehicle's continued operation. According to Saynani, she shell out a total of P40,000 for the cost of the renewal as well as other expenses including the suspect's fees. The suspect subsequently turned over the supposedly finished documents to the victim indicating that the processing had been completed. Sensing that something was wrong, the victim decided to counter-check the process and learned out too late that she had been duped. Saynani said that based on the records at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, her vehicle had not been registered and that her papers were fake. She immediately went to confront Amolata at his residence in Candijay but the suspect was nowhere to be found. The complaint has been docketed at the Tagbilaran PNP for appropriate action. |
